14 Oct 2009 - Football Match report

On Wednesday 14th October 2009 Spinfield football team
played Beachview School in a cup match. Spinfield were at home and have a strong team of: Harry  (goalkeeper),
Adam, Lewis, Jerome (defenders),
Murray, Joseph, Will (midfielders) and
Matt, our top striker.

With the loss of Harry due to his fractured wrist our spirits were weakened but that didn’t stop us! The first half was a kung fu drama. The opposition accused us of being
‘hackers’ from the sideline. But Spinfield dodged the attempts and got a good start lead of 2-1. Our striker Matt scored the first goal just squeezing it into the left
hand corner. A few minutes later Murray had our
second with a assist from Matt.

 
The second half really got pumped as one of the Beachview players had to have a word with the referee (Mr Morgan) because of a mad slide tackle to give Spinfield a free kick.
At the last few seconds of the game Harry made a jaw-dropping save that kept our heads high. The end whistle blew and Spinfield scampered into the next round. Final
result 5-1.The goal scorers were Matt (2), Murray  (2) and Will (1). A super performance that’s kick-started Spinfield into the second round!
